LMP wants to see impact studies on government streamlining plan
Budapest, February 7 (MTI) – The green opposition LMP has said it agrees with the government on the need to cull jobs in public administration but wants to see the impact studies prepared for a government scheme to fight bureaucracy.
A few weeks ago the government talked about laying off 150,000 people soon and 600,000 in the long term. Yet nobody knows what these figures are based on, deputy group leader of the party Erzsebet Schmuck told public news channel M1.
LMP’s position is that first the tasks to be carried out by public administration should be assessed and numbers should be adjusted to these. Rationalisation will be indeed necessary at some background institutions, but in many cases such institutions cannot be merged into the ministries, she said.
