M3 motorway section construction in NE Hungary faring as planned, says investor
Budapest, December 25 (MTI) – Construction of the 11.9-km stretch of motorway M3 between Or and Vasarosnameny in northeastern Hungary is going according to plans and it is expected to be opened in the autumn of 2014, the investment company’s spokesman told MTI today.
Ground work at the section has been fully completed and pillars for four out of the six overpasses have been installed, said Daniel Loppert, of the National Infrastructure Development Zrt company.
The first layer of asphalt has been laid on almost the entire road section and adding the final layers will continue next spring, he said.
The installation of roadside protective barriers and traffic control aids will follow in the summer of 2014, Loppert added.
The motorway section with a pair of dual lanes will relieve several settlements from through traffic in Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg county, he said.
The project worth a net 15.4 billion forints (EUR 52m) is carried out by the M3 Kraszna 2012 Konzorcium receiving in parts EU funding.
M3 is part of the V East-West Pan European Transport Corridor connecting Venice with Kiev.
