A serious incident occurred on Friday in Debrecen, where volunteers of the opposition Tisza Party were threatened and chased with an axe while campaigning in a residential building. The incident triggered strong reactions across the political spectrum, including condemnation from the city’s Fidesz-led leadership.
Tisza Party activists were attacked by a man with an axe
According to Tisza Party leader Péter Magyar, the attack took place in a housing estate in Debrecen while two young volunteers were door-knocking. In a Facebook post, Magyar claimed that a man became aggressive after encountering the activists, verbally abusing them and calling them “traitors”, reports Telex.
Despite the volunteers attempting to de-escalate the situation by moving several floors down the building, the man returned armed with an axe and chased them through the stairwell.
A video shared by Magyar appears to show the activists fleeing downstairs while shouting at their pursuer. Another voice can be heard in the background, though the words are unclear. Magyar stated that the volunteers were left in shock and that eight police officers, equipped with shields, arrived at the scene and detained the suspect.
They tried to avoid confrontation, but the man still chased them
One of the affected volunteers later spoke in a video published by a local Tisza Party parliamentary candidate. He said the man had warned them to leave immediately or he would “come back with an axe and drive them out”. The volunteers decided to avoid confrontation and continued their activity elsewhere in the building, but the man soon reappeared carrying the weapon.
According to Tisza representatives, the suspect has since been taken away by police. The party also claimed the man may be a teacher, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Magyar called on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to publicly address what he described as escalating political aggression, and urged President Tamás Sulyok to comment on the case. He also demanded that Fidesz candidates in Hajdú-Bihar county clearly distance themselves from the incident.
Local Fidesz politicians responded
Debrecen’s Fidesz mayor, László Papp, condemned the attack in a social media post, stating that violence in any form (verbal or physical) is unacceptable both in public life and in private. He emphasised that political participation deserves respect regardless of party affiliation and urged restraint as elections approach.
Deputy Mayor Diána Széles also responded, rejecting online speculation that the attacker was linked to Fidesz. While condemning the incident, she added that she herself had received a serious threatening message on the same day and called on Tisza Party representatives to distance themselves from all forms of political intimidation.

Obviously, this is no way to deal with globalists. Even brainwashed people are part of the nation, and therefore should be protected. Them dying would be a greater loss for the nation, then them talking nonsense.
However, I would highlit a few things:
1, if you compare this to the article about the convicted criminal minorities trying to disrupt a Fidesz gathering, obviously organised, you will notice, that in that article the aggressors are represented as victims. Why the disparancy DNH? Shouldn’t you say, that the man with the axe is a victim of some baseless accusation, since there are no convictions yet? Or do you prioritise spreading a message more then objectivity? Maybe you are racists, so you think minorities are übermensch, and have more rights?
2, Wasn’t public opinion against Fidesz? I thought Tisza had
1000000% lead. How can Tisza activists be hated, instead of being celebrated?! Strange isn’t it? Reading “independent-objective-certainly-not-astrotutfing” polls, this shouldn’t happen.
3, The EU wishes to become a nation. It’s a fact. No one hides or denies this. That means Hungary stops being a nation, by definition. So if you support the EU over Hungary in this, you technically want a foreign power to abolish Hungary, so technically, you are a traitor. Now, I don’t want people be punished for it, because I think highlighting basic facts, and how retarded the people believing them are, and laughing at them is a far more healthy response. But the facts are facts. You want to help outsiders abolush your nation? Sorry, that’s treason.
Such a useless comment Márk!
I knew a stupid man used to say while negotiating : I will confuse you with details!
This is exactly what you are trying to do!!!
I respectfully disagree, Dear Rádzs.
I totally agree with both the poignancy and civility of Márk’s comment.
Márk is right to point out that, though many of us feel exactly like the man with the axe, concerning those candidates who wish to support the destruction of our peoples and nations, vigilante violence is not the way to go about it.
Yes, Tisza Party, and all it’s candidates join DK and Momentum as a party full of Arulok és Gazemberek.
There is no other way to think about those who wish to turn over the sovereignty of their own country to a foreign power or people.
“There is no other way to think about those who wish to turn over the sovereignty of their own country to a foreign power or people.”
As horrifying as it is, its true. You are right. If we let Fidesz / Mi Hazank rule, more and more people who have different opinions than them, they will we chased by an axe and even eliminated – just liken in 1930s Germany.
Dont let that happen. Vote for change in Hungarian leadership.
No defending this by trying to turn it against Tisza. Obviously this was a very violent anti-Tisza person and logically would be a supporter of Fidesz or the Mi Hazank Neaderthals. The statements and propaganda pushed by Fidesz through their widespread media control peddles a lot of hate. Fidesz really needs to go and Hungary needs to clean up the mess they have created and return to being a normal country.

Jobb neandervölgyinek lenni, mint árulónak, Drága Lorinc….
Aki másképp gondolkodik, az nem áruló.
Jobb civilizált embernek lenni, kedves Mouton.
