The system, called EMMA or Egységes Menetrend Magyarországon (Unified Timetable in Hungary), is the first integrated travel planning platform in Hungary. It will not only make Hungarian rail and bus timetables accessible through a single interface but also provide real-time data on routes, turizmus.com reports.

The system also accounts for potential delays and, for some operators (such as MÁV-START), provides important text-based passenger information in case of extraordinary situations causing traffic changes or disruptions. In the route view, the position of vehicles can be seen on a map, and users can filter for local and intercity timetables.

With the new service, anyone can now plan their journey easily, quickly and reliably, whether travelling by train, bus or a combination of both. In addition to the intercity services provided by MÁV-START, GYSEV, MÁV-HÉV and VOLÁNBUSZ, the service displays both the timetable and real-time traffic data of 70 individual local services. There are also plans to expand the range of available cities in the future. The service is now available on the emma.mav.hu website.

To use EMMA, you need the latest version of Chrome or Edge browsers, and it can be accessed on both smartphones and computers.
