Meet special buses in Budapest for limited time!
Electric buses will be tested again in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Passengers will be able to see a solo vehicle on the e105 and e210 lines until 3 August, and an articulated vehicle on the e8E line between 21 and 29 July, the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) told the Hungarian News Agency, MTI, on Monday.
According to the announcement, these services will run as extra services, in addition to the scheduled departures of the 105, 210 and 8E services. They will be free to try out.
In the BudapestGO app, you can follow exactly where the electric test buses are going. You can also find out about the timetable of the bus service, the statement says.
BKK said that the vehicles are being tested on these lines in order to test them in as many conditions typical of Budapest as possible. This way, in addition to the urban section with average traffic conditions, information about the bus’ characteristics can be obtained in mountainous areas and in densely built-up inner-city environments, the document reads.
As reported, during the current test, MAN 12e (solo) and 18E (articulated) vehicles can be seen on the streets of Budapest. The buses can travel up to 350 kilometres on a single charge, and the energy recovered when braking is fed back into the system.
The test of the pure electric low-floor buses in the capital is being carried out thanks to the cooperation between BKK and ArrivaBus.
In the past period, BKK has tested fully electric buses several times together with its service providers, ArrivaBus and BKV Zrt., as the use of modern, environmentally friendly vehicles in Budapest’s public transport is an important objective. In line with the strategic objectives, the Budapest Mobility Plan (Budapesti Mobilitási Terv) favours the procurement of zero-emission vehicles in the bus sector: trolleybuses and electric buses.
