Mentally disabled Hungarian woman forced into prostitution in Austria
A woman in a severely vulnerable position was forced into prostitution in Austria by a man and a woman from Budapest. The National Investigation Bureau of the Standby Police is now investigating József T. and Eszter L. due to a well-founded suspicion of human trafficking.
Police writes that the suspects are partners who, in the summer of 2019, threatened to force a mentally disabled young Hungarian woman to travel to Austria with them. There she was forced into prostitution for a week. József T. and his partner kept all the income of roughly 1000 euros.
The criminals did not even care to provide the young woman with food and drink in the brothel, she only got those necessities from others.
The criminal proceedings were ordered in Austria, from where they were transferred to the Hungarian authorities.
Eszter L. was prosecuted by the Hungarian police on Tuesday, and a house search was carried out at the woman’s address in Budapest. His partner, József T., was interrogated as a suspect the next Wednesday. The couple can be sentenced to two to eight years for classified trafficking.
