Mesmerizing midnight views: Aerial photos of Lake Balaton’s enchanting nights
Stunning aerial shots of Lake Balaton at night, bathed in a flood of light. Gábor Kaleszdorfer, a pilot of the Wizz Air airline, took these captivating snaps.
According to likebalaton.hu, pilot Gábor Kaleszdorfer revealed that he captured the mesmerising scenes during a flight from Romania to London, using his mobile phone from an altitude of approximately 10-12,000 metres.
“The pictures were taken with a Google Pixel 7 phone with a gyroscope. This means there is no vibration or blurring. And the camera also amplifies the nocturnal light,” explained Gábor Kaleszdorfer, who added that it always cheers him up to see the beauty of the Hungarian sea.
The pilot shot the photos last October and sent them to his father, who shared them on social media, prompting their viral spread.
“When we see a space photograph, what do we first look for in Hungary? Lake Balaton. Everyone recognises it, and everyone’s heart leaps when they see the lake from above,”
the pilot said. The photographs show how Lake Balaton is seamlessly integrated into its surroundings. In recent years, rampant mega-investments have often resulted in the destruction of natural habitats, taking a toll not only on the immediate vicinity of the lake but also on nearby settlements.
