Most beautiful promenade: iconic Budapest square to be renewed – VISUALS
Clark Ádám Square in Budapest is to be rebuilt, and work will begin soon, according to a statement issued by the Mayor’s Office on Thursday. With the renovation of Clark Ádám Square, the capital would like to create the most beautiful promenade in the world.
The Municipality of Budapest and the Municipality of Budavár, District I, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the “climate-conscious renewal” of the square. In principle, this means that there will be more space for pedestrians, significantly more green space and improved cycling conditions.
“More trees, wider pavements, easily accessible green spaces and a pedestrian walkway between the Basilica and Buda Castle are planned,”
the statement says.
Mayor Gergely Karácsony said that one of the most important projects of the cycle was the renewal of the Chain Bridge and the new traffic regime on the bridge, which could contribute to traffic calming in the city centre.
The renewal of the Chain Bridge and the two squares, Clark Ádám Square and Széchenyi Square, would create one of the most beautiful promenades in the world, from the Basilica to the Castle.
According to the information, the roundabout in the square will remain but will be smaller than the current one. In the centre will be a plant bed reminiscent of the rose window of Matthias Church, and the area will be given “andesite paving befitting its status, as well as modern yet appropriate candelabras, lighting fixtures and street furniture”.
The investment is planned to be co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Programme for Regional and Urban Development Plus (Terület- és Településfejlesztési Operatív Program Plusz) in the current EU budget cycle, Telex writes.

A “climate-conscious renewal.” Oh jeez…
The ugly hotel is the eye score. Cars standing on the sidewalk, traffic congestion in front of it, terrible. Should have nevere been allowed. Not a five Star material.
