Mövenpick opens its first hotel in Budapest in a restored Art Nouveau landmark

The Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre has officially opened its doors, marking the debut of the Swiss-born brand in the Hungarian capital. This is Mövenpick’s second hotel in Hungary, resulting from a partnership between hospitality giant Accor and the Mogotel Hotel Group.

Founded in 1948, Mövenpick is rapidly expanding across Europe. Recent hotel openings in Poland and upcoming launches in Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, and Greece reflect the brand’s strategic growth globally.

The new Budapest hotel is housed in a historic Art Nouveau building originally constructed in 1911 as the Palace Hotel. Designed by renowned architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab, the six-story structure was once considered one of the most modern hotels of its time. Several areas of the building—including the lobby, staircase, elevator, and hallways—are now protected as architectural heritage.

Now fully renovated, the Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre features 227 modern rooms. The property also includes seven fully equipped meeting and event spaces that can accommodate more than 300 guests, making it an ideal venue for conferences, corporate events, and private gatherings.
