What’s happening in Hungary? Multiple stabbing cases within a week

Change language:
A man pulled a knife at police officers in Őrjárat Street, Budapest. The incident happened a week and a half ago. Another young man stabbed his host in the neck because he thought he had called him a racist slur in his dream.
According to the civil guards who arrived at the scene, the police tried to calm the man down, but he suddenly pulled a knife at the cops. The man did not attack them; he just stood and shouted. In response, the patrols pulled out their guns and called on him to put down the knife.
“When we got there, we saw the man sitting in his car clutching the knife. And the police grabbed their guns and tried to get him out of the car. The man, while screaming, suddenly turned the knife against himself and stabbed himself in his chest.”
-one of the civil guards said.
The patrols pulled the man out of the car and tried to cover the wound while notifying the ambulance.
At 24.hu’s request, Cecília Németh, the ambulance’s communication organiser, said that the 35-year-old man had been transported to the hospital with stab injuries but in a stable condition.
They also contacted the BRFK press department. In their response, they wrote that a woman had made a report in the 15th district on April 3 around noon that his ex-partner wants to smash her car. Arriving, police found the man alone in the woman’s car.
The man shouted inarticulately and had a knife, which he did not drop despite repeated calls, so the police pulled out their service weapons. The confused man then stabbed himself in the chest. Patrolmen picked him up from the car, called an ambulance, and in the meantime gave him first aid. Primary data show a man with minor injuries was transported to psychiatry by a rescue service with a police escort
– they wrote.
