National Roma government operates as “mafia”, says member
Budapest, May 18 (MTI) – Hungary’s Roma self-government ÖRO “operates like a mafia”, László Vajda, a deputy in the organisation, told a press conference on Wednesday.
Vajda insisted that ÖRO is still controlled by former head Flórián Farkas, and suggested that members of the incumbent leadership accept bribes from Farkas and follow his instructions.
Oszkár Lakatos, another deputy, said at the presser that Farkas was also running ORO’s agencies, such as a training foundation and an association aimed at promoting Roma employment. He demanded that the government should stop financing those organisations since “it is obvious that those funds will disappear”.
