Who was the Hungarian Football League’s best player in the autumn?
Ferencváros striker Dániel Böde doesn’t just lead the goalscoring charts and the combined goalscoring and assists chart; according to InStat figures he was also the best player over the first 19 rounds of the OTP Bank Liga.
At club level as well as by looking at the league table, the most important statistical data, is also very telling: Ferencváros, as well as leading the table have scored the most and conceded the least, so they can clearly lay claim to being the best team in the autumn part of the season. Two-thirds of Fradi’s goals came from open play (this is the highest proportion of any team), and only 17% have come from set-pieces (this is the lowest proportion from amongst the twelve NBI teams) or counter-attacks. Debrecen, incidentally, had the most successful counter-attacking side (with 9 goals on the counter), whilst Honvéd and Paks were the most prolific from set-pieces (with 14 goals each).
According to the statistical data, Ferencváros was the first in terms of possession (62%), shots on goal (15 per match), passes (621 per match), percentage of successful passes (85%), corners (7 per match), and also in attacking passes, that is, key passes (19 per match).
Újpest finished the autumn part of the season so strong that it could move up to second place, and also lead a few of the stats after 19 rounds: among the most important ones the lilac and whites have recorded most duels won (118 per match), the most dribbles/bursts forward with the ball (41 on average, of which 26 were successful) and most successful challenges (68 on average). Interestingly, Újpest is neck and neck with Ferencváros with the least goals conceded in the opening 30 minutes (two out of nineteen), while Videoton have scored the least during this period (one of their twenty-two goals). Honvéd is the most prolific team in the latter stage of matches, scoring 37% of their goals in the last quarter of an hour (nine in total), while Békéscsaba has conceded the most goals late on, 15 after the 75th minute, which is 34% of all goals they have conceded.
Dániel Böde, top of the scoring charts with 12, also leads the combined goals and assists table with 16 points (12+4), Mbaye Diagne is second with 13 (11+2), and Sándor Torghelle third with 10 (9+1). Top number of assists goes to Balázs Balogh, with 8 assists in 19 rounds.
InStat rates the performance of each footballer in every match with their InStat Index, which is based on the points given for certain events occurring in the matches. For the autumn rounds of the season Dániel Böde has the highest average InStat Index (243), ahead of Ferencváros teammates Leandro (236) and Zoltán Gera (228).
