Debrecen local council in eastern Hungary has rejected reports that a battery plant was planned in addition to the one already announced by China’s CATL.
Its statement on Wednesday said the report that the minister of foreign affairs and trade planned to announce an additional battery factory in Debrecen was false, and it “categorically” denied the information. In the coming period, the city’s industrial infrastructure can only serve factories that have already been announced or are under construction, as well as local suppliers, it added. The statement said that Chinese company NingBo ZhenYu Technology Co mentioned in recent reports was not a battery maker but rather manufactured metal parts for electric vehicles.
