Passenger traffic over one million again in January
For the first time since the pandemic, passenger traffic in January, usually a less busy month, has exceeded one million, as 1 100 451 passengers passed through Ferenc Liszt International Airport in the first month of 2024. This is a 16.5% increase compared to last year and also means that traffic at Budapest Airport has consistently exceeded the one million mark throughout the past 11 months. Last year’s passenger traffic peaked at 14.7 million, surpassing preliminary expectations and reaching 91% of the pre-COVID annual figure. According to the company’s forecasts, this year’s passenger traffic will exceed the 2019 level.

Another phase of the BUD Cargo City development handed over
Since last August, double capacity has been available on the apron of the BUD Cargo City, enabling the concurrent handling of four code F aircraft. In December, another milestone was reached in the development of the complex, and February saw the handover of the 10,000 square meters of new warehouse space, which, together with offices and operational infrastructure, increases the capacity of the air cargo handling complex to 300,000 tons per year. This represents a 40% increase in capacity, in response to the ever-increasing demand from cargo operators. By 2040, the airport’s air cargo hub is expected to contribute 40 billion HUF to the country’s GDP.
