Enthusiastic, young Japanese chef promoted hospital workers for a week, with his healthy, refreshing Japanese meals. Mr Nagatake opened his restaurant WAFU in Budapest, in 2020 January , and just before the season start , corona virus spread all over the world, including Budapest.
Mr Nagatake – who started working in restaurants and as a chef since he was 16, also in Australia and Canada – finally chose Budapest because of its view and lots of inspiring things. He opened his place, with the help of local people, but things changed quickly, and restaurant closed down or started home delivery, if they have not done it before , the sales channels have changed– as a result of pandemic situation.

“I felt that everyone is suffering. I wanted to support somehow those healthcare workers who are working in the frontline, everyday in hospitals fighting against the virus: “What can I do? When I think about it, the only way I can support people is making them feel better and giving them energy with my food”- Mr Nagatake thought.
So he delivered healthy Japanese dishes, like teriyaki chicken with salad, curry pork and karaage for the hospital workers, to express his gratitude towards them:
“Arigatou!” – saying on the lunchboxes and hoping that he can save lives through this gesture.
