Prize-winning film director Sándor Sára dies, aged 85
Sándor Sára, the Kossuth Prize-winning cinematographer and film director, who was the first chairman of Duna Televízió, has died, aged 85, the Human Resources Ministry told MTI on Sunday.
Sára, who started his career as a documentary filmmaker, developed a unique way of seeing things that helped raise the international profile of Hungarian film, the ministry said.
Sara’s films were screened in more than 50 countries and were acknowledged with prizes at a number of Hungarian and international film festivals, it added.
