New statistics: Number of births in free fall, Hungary’s population decreasing drastically
The number of births in March fell by 8.9 percent, while deaths were up 4.9 percent compared with the same month the previous year, according to Central Statistical Office (KSH) preliminary data.
Fully 5,885 children were born and 11,198 people died compared with March 2024. Marriages declined by 2.0 percent in the period, KSH said in a statement on Friday.
The natural population decline was 5,313 people, compared with 4,218 in March last year. KSH data show that 2,968 couples tied the knot, down 61 compared with March 2024.
In January-March, 17,945 children were born, 7.2 percent fewer than the same period the previous year. The estimated total fertility rate per woman was 1.31, compared to 1.38 a year earlier.
Fully 35,245 people died, 4.4 percent more than in the same period the previous year. Fully 6,614 couples got married, 6.4 percent fewer than the same period a year earlier.

Every month I expect the number of births to start to recover. However, as yet that hasn’t happened. They’re still amazingly low. The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) for the 12 months to March is just 1.36 and the March number is 1.25. Now I’m no great fan of TFR but it’s not so long ago that it was touching 1.6. Any idea that we can rapidly get to a TFR of 2 is looking like pure fantasy. A change of tack is required.
As I said many times, the birth rate is low because young people have been brainwashed into believing that making money, spending that money on vacuous gadgets and trips, and consuming their free time on social media is what life is about. Take on as little responsibility as possible. Why drop a grand on a baby’s diapers, clothes, and preschool when you instead buy a third release of that swanky new phone they put out in the past seven months!?
These people are weak. And just like their counterparts in the West, when then globalist-socialist-fascist scumbags flood the country with hundreds of thousands of aggressive young men from Africa, etc., the natives cower in terror.
A radical change is needed, starting from an early age. Life is not about work and travel. It’s about family and your legacy (i.e. children). THAT is what generates true happiness, especially in older age.
Considering that 20% of the country is over 60 years of age, the population could be in total freefall in the next 15-20 years, at which time the largest section of the population today will be at or close to retirement age. I keep hearing about problems in the year 2100 but the harsh reality of this issue and the consequences are a lot closer than that.
The financial aspects of an aging population are hitting already. Pensions and the health system are dependent on taxation of working age people. And with family policies already costing a lot of money, something has to give. All governments for the next few decades will be struggling with this issue. Of course, Hungary is not the only country affected by this issue, it’s a worldwide problem.

Orban led Fidesz Government – the “toxic heinous culture” – the distillation of DEMOCRACY then NOW – what Orban and his Fidesz Government have DELIVERED Hungary to represent Economically & Financially and the “nadir” to which this SLAUGHTERING of Hungary by the Orban Government is heading, just gives VERY sound reasoning, why and correctly rightfully Hungary as a country – the EXODUS of citizens “from all stations in life” – CONTINUES.
WHAT’s – for them to stay, besides FAMILY ???
Hungarians – as I refer in the age bracket to 32 years of age – want a life that OPPORTUNISTIC have “‘potential” of a FUTURE – in careers and in “quality of life”.
WHT should they PARENT there children in a country, that they are “starved” of futures OPPORTUNITIES living there lives pressurized from a monetary aspect and a country DEVOID of being a DEMOCRACY – that is “Freedom & Liberty” – that eradicates, takes away from them, to have an un-inhibited VOICE there lives CONTROLLED – by a Government that Orban has created “feeds on” developing, that is DICTATORIAL in its PLATFORM, that includes the WANT of Education in Hungary, as it has the Media, the Judiciary, use of “Rule by Decree” – to CONTROL.
WHY – in the age bracket I refer – WHY – should they continue to live there LIVES – in Hungary, that is “into an abyss of a NEW dark age” for Hungary ?
THEY don’t and the subject matter of this article is just ANOTHER blatant message of WHY they have, and WHY it will CONTINUE – add to the DECLINE of number in the “aged” declining population of Hungary.
Hungary – is a “Suppressed” country, that the age bracket to 32 years of AGE – have awakened to in thousands that WILL grow, in there continuation – there exiting of Hungary.
