Opposition suing government for letting Fidesz use campaign slogans, graphics free of charge
Budapest, April 10 (MTI) – The opposition Democratic Coalition is suing the government for allowing the ruling party Fidesz to use campaign slogans and graphics free of charge, party spokesman Zsolt Gréczy told MTI on Sunday.
The government has a legal right to spend public monies on campaigns, but not to give these to a political party free of charge, Gréczy said. This is exactly what the government did with Fidesz, he added.
DK wants the court to make Fidesz repay the government the 600 million forints (EUR 1.9m) it spent on the “Hungarian reforms are working” campaign and the 800 million forints spent on the “Hungary is doing better” campaign, Gréczy said.
DK will file the case with the court in days, he added.
