Orbán cabinet to decide on shopping times for elderly on Wednesday
The cabinet is expected to decide on Wednesday whether to amend the restrictions on shopping times reserved for people aged above 65, the chief medical officer said.
“The aim is to return to a normal course of life in this area, too,” Cecília Müller told an online press conference of the operative board coordinating Hungary’s response to the epidemic on Monday.
She said that starting on Monday all health services are once again available to the public without restrictions.
Some 80 percent of hospital beds formerly reserved for novel coronavirus patients can be used for other purposes but
20 percent still need to be maintained for coronavirus patients, she said.
Restrictions on hospital visits have been partially lifted, with hospital heads still having the right to specify detailed rules, she said.
Operative board spokesman Róbert Kiss told the same press conference that family gatherings of not more than 200 participants for weddings and funerals are now also allowed in Budapest. Live music is also allowed for such events, he added.
Commenting on recent reports of spike in the number of infections reported in Ukraine and Romania, he said the borders in question were being monitored on an ongoing basis.
Non-Hungarian citizens are still not allowed to enter Hungary except for citizens of countries that have signed bilateral agreements, he said.
Entry from Romania and Ukraine is only allowed for farm workers, certain people in possession of a special permit and those travelling on to western Europe, he added.

Prime Minister – Victor Orban & his Government, special mention to the competence of Cecilia Muller – Chief Medical Officer, have been ALL exemplary through the course of this novel coronavirus pandemic.
Statistically – all major indicators are heading in a positive direction.
It would appears, we are controlling and combating the destructiveness, to our beloved Country of Hungary, that had not our Government – Citizens Focused – not instigated strategies that they did, which have saved large numbers of lives of our fellow loved Hungarians, loss of lives numbers, could have been horrendous and painful to us all.
We must not forget those and there Families that are no longer with us who have been victims of this novel coronavirus.
I would not have any objection if our Government decided to delay 65 plus of age residents from returning to normal procedure of shopping hours, instead of the current permitted time – 9.30am to 12 mid-day.
Personally it comfortable suits me, if this decision became effective from the 1st July 2020, just a steady as we go approach and not like a “bull at a gate” in a hurry, to get this situation back in normality.
We must NOT forget – there has been – NO HUMAN VACCINE – discovered for Human immunization against this novel coronavirus.
We must not relax undo nor blemish or abuse our record as a Country, that we have magnificently achieved thus far, driven by our Prime Minister – Victor Orban & his Government and “Saint ” Cecilia Muller.
Stay Well – ALL.
