Orbán opens mission heads’ meeting

MTI – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Monday opened a meeting of heads of Hungary’s foreign representations in the ministry of foreign affairs and trade, the communications department of the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The statement said Orbán met Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, and other ministry leaders and then gave a speech to Hungarian ambassadors and consuls-general.

The statement added that he highlighted new opportunities and the major challenges of Hungarian diplomacy, especially in view of the new US leadership, the latest events in the Russia-Ukraine war, and “the pro-war stance of the European Union.”

The department said Orbán said Hungary’s room for manoeuvre had widened significantly in the past year and gave an outline of “the programme of economic and political breakthrough.”
