Painting of Huns Will Be Exhibited At This Year’s Kurultaj
One of the main attractions of this year’s Kurultaj will be a 20m x 3 m panoramic painting depicting the arrival of the Huns in the Carpathian Basin led by King Attila in the 3rd century A.D, hungarianambiance.com reports.
The picture is the work of painter Zalán Kertai who is aided by archaeologists when painted the monumental piece so that he could give the most accurate rendition of the Hun warriors including their physical features and costumes they wore in the third century of our era.
The contemporary weapons depicted in the painting – helmets, harnesses and so on – have been rendered after careful study of archaeological finds.
The artwork will be exhibited with many other artifacts of the Hun period in the world’s largest yurt called “Attila tent”, which will be set up at Kurultaj site in Bugac.
The exhibition will also include a range of archaeological and anthropological finds from the Hun period; the exhibition will be presented as a memorial to the arrival of the Huns in Europe and to the Hun Empire founded in the Carpathian Basin.
