PHOTO GALLERY: 3-day housing trend exhibition opens in the Hungarian capital at the Budapest Arena
Unique interior design solutions and fresh design trends await visitors at this year’s fifth annual S/ALON BUDAPEST on 22-23-24 September.
As interior design aficionados know, September has for years been an unforgettable weekend of experiences for all interior design lovers and novelty seekers! This year, S/ALON BUDAPEST will once again showcase a wide range of the most inspiring domestic and international brands, as well as a number of new design innovations not yet available in Hungary.
Sophisticated solutions from floor to attic
At the largest design interior design event in Hungary, those preparing for home renovation and construction, as well as those looking for inspiration, can find innovative solutions carefully curated for quality. Exhibitors, interior designers and stylists have been working for months to create interiors with thoughtfully selected objects and accessories in the 7,000 square metres of exhibition space that are on display exclusively for the three days of the event. Furniture, lighting, tiling, home textiles and artworks will be displayed in different rooms: living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, children’s room, terrace. There will even be a designer garage, home office and music room, covering all the typical and less typical corners of the home.
The future is here!
S/ALON BUDAPEST exhibition also responds to the novelties of the future, so we can see, touch and experience countless astonishing innovations, all of which are already leading us to the threshold of a new world. For example, there will be wallpaper made with artificial intelligence, soundproofing plaster and textiles made from PET bottles, which, as well as being a responsible use of materials, are also playing a major role in protecting wild tigers.
Exclusive world premiere
Alex Proba, the German-born, world-renowned designer based in California, presents his latest collection at S/ALON BUDAPEST. The versatile artist – who has designed for brands such as Louis Vuitton, CC Tapis and Samsung – evokes dreamlike images and surreal landscapes through a mesmerising dance of colours and patterns. While his textiles, ceramics, sculptures and murals are placed in a wide variety of contexts, each is a testament to his unique vision and artistic versatility. Alex’s debut collection of wallpapers will be available to order online immediately after the event.
Nature-inspired installations
Each year, the S/ALON BUDAPEST design competition provides an opportunity for national designers, studios and other unknown artists to showcase their creative vision around a specific theme. The theme of this year’s competition is Flower Power, which explores the relationship between nature and innovative design, as well as the importance of environmental awareness and ecological design. The exhibiting artists have a clear aim of interaction, and their installations aim to create a harmony of the soul, since in this sensitive world of today it is important that our homes are a place of calm and arrival. The use of our senses is more important than ever, so we can find scents, tactile objects and eye-catching spatial experiences in the interiors of the winning entries.
Hello Hungarian Design
In the permanent thematic block of the exhibition, Hello Hungarian Design, visitors can discover the latest furniture, lamps, textiles and ceramics by 40 Hungarian artists in a unique conceptual arrangement: this year the exhibition is based on the theme of earth – water – fire – air.
