PHOTO GALLERY: Hungary’s Christmas tree looks astonishing near the Parliament

Hungary’s Christmas tree arrived at its traditional spot near the main gate of Parliament in Budapest’s Kossuth Square. Standing at an impressive 24 metres, this festive spectacle will grace the nation’s main square until early January.

As reported by pestbuda.hu, firefighters set up Hungary’s Christmas tree on Kossuth Square yesterday, continuing a cherished tradition spanning decades, placing the tree near the main gate of the Hungarian National Assembly.

The tree boasts an 80-centimetre trunk diameter and a weighty five tonnes. Prior to its grand display in Budapest, it stood in the garden of a family home in Hajdúszoboszló, a well-known spa town near Debrecen which is often referred to as the ‘Hungarian spa capital’ in East Hungary. Several authorities helped placing the tree safely on the Kossuth Square, including firefighters, military officers and the police. This festive centrepiece will stand tall, casting its seasonal charm, until the 6th of January.
