A US-made second world war aerial bomb weighing 500kg was discovered by a dredger in the Petroleum bay of the Danube river at south Budapest’s Csepel district on Tuesday, the Hungarian army said on its website.
The army’s explosives experts established at the scene that the device must be neutralised before being transported to a depository. The operation will take place on December 22 during the night. Police will cordon off an 800 metre radius in the area, a special division of the Hungarian military said on Facebook.
