PHOTOS: this is what the iconic Citadel in Budapest will look like
The Citadel in Budapest is undergoing a major redevelopment. Now, the National Hauszmann Programme has published visual plans of what it will look like.
The Citadel is undergoing a radical renewal and transformation as part of the National Hauszmann Programme, Mandiner reports. The walls of the fortress, once built by the Austrians, will be completely demolished in several places, creating terraces, stairs and new buildings.
The Citadel has had a huge national flag for some time now, as part of the redevelopment. The Statue of Liberty will remain, but behind it, the walls of the fortress will be demolished and a wide flight of steps will lead up to the upper terraces of the Citadel.
