PM Orbán pressures the national health authority to authorise the Chinese vaccine

Change language:

The Hungarian Prime Minister put pressure on the national health authority to approve the Chinese vaccine as soon as possible, saying that western vaccines get to the country very slowly.

As Bloomberg wrote, PM Orbán pressurised health regulators to quickly allow the use of the Chinese vaccine. The EU is in negotiations with several western companies producing vaccines, but their arrival has been slowed down a bit. For instance,

Pfizer notified all 27 member states that in the course of the upcoming weeks, they will provide the countries with fewer vaccines than anticipated.

The drop in the delivery of the injections is due to works at the company’s key plant in Belgium to ramp up its production capacity from mid-February. Though they promised there would be a significant increase in deliveries in late February and March, the Hungarian government chooses to rely on the Chinese vaccine that is not yet authorised.

PM Orbán is rather careful in this question: he is promoting vaccination but, at the same time, he is trying to avoid growing scepticism around it. He supported the Russian vaccine from very early on and originally said that they would not tell people which company’s product they will get. Since then, he announced that they would share this information with those who choose to be vaccinated, writes Nepszava.hu.

  1. It has been proven that the efficacy of the Chinese vaccine is poor – just over 50% (the manufacturers claimed 78% but that has debunked). A 50/50 chance that it might work is simply not good enough.

  2. Dark and Un-chartered waters – veiled and shrouded in mystery and un-certainty, if Hungary authorize – the immunization of its citizens using the Chinese supposed vaccine.
If the applicable Government Department of Hungary, who are Responsible for the approving and inoculation of vaccine injection into Human beings are imprudent – approving the Chinese formula without European Union authority, this will not be tolerated, and nor it should be by Brussels.
Dangerous road to take which further highlights the on-going growing Relationship that Hungary is building with China – which is the wrong road that will bring about growing and widening division within the citizens of Hungary, that will not favour its present Government.

  3. Hungary doesn’t wish to become collateral damage to opinionated, egotistical political aims.
Leave the decision regarding the vaccines to those who are THE EXPERTS in this field.
NOTE: You are NOT compelled to have any of the vaccines!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE, IF YOU CAN NOT DO GOOD, AT LEAST DO NO HARM.
Creating more mass insecurity, uncertainty deliberately, should be deemed a crime and punishable as
    such.

  4. At present, Chinese vaccine is not very effective ( 50 % is no good ) and, more important, nobody knows its side effects, for China does not disclose such data and if it does those data can not be verified. It is not sinophobia, it is facts. And this is why the EU is reluctant. But Orbán and his illiberal regime, who knows why ( i mean we all know it : because of money and ego ) prefer to gamble with the health of the Hungarians and play the usual, repetitive anti-EU rethoric.
I am glad we have the EU, if it was for people like the Hungarian despot we, all Europeans, would be inoculated God only knows what.
Question: why is Hungary’s president silent on such a crucial matter? After all, at least in theory he is the head of the state. And this is a matter of national safety.
