Popular BudapestGO app will not operate properly from today!
The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) said the popular BudapestGO app will not work for everybody from today. That is because the new public transport tariff system was introduced on 1 March, which makes an update inevitable to adapt the system to the new rules.
According to index.hu, BKK said that passengers using it from outside Budapest would be unable to reach timetables and use the app’s journey planning feature concerning some MÁV trains from today.
After 1 March, Budapest passes have become valid for Intercity trains (2nd class), including MÁV-Start’s international trains. Therefore, passengers can use all the trains stopping in Budapest within Budapest’s borders.
BudapestGO app to be updated
However, BKK must migrate lots of data into the BudapestGO, and that harmonisation needs time. The developers would like to update the app and make it possible to plan journeys not only from the suburbs and Budapest but also from farther regions of the country, provided you want to travel by train.
Due to the process, passengers will temporarily be unable to reach and use train timetables and journey planning from outside Budapest. In Budapest, you can plan your journey even with MÁV trains and regional Volán buses. The app’s update will take a couple of weeks, BKK added.
