According to origo.hu, a record number of 27 860 runners started in the 30th SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival – which was two-day long the first time this year – and it became the highest number sporting events of all time in Hungary.
The runners represented 80 countries; competitors came from 910 Hungarian settlements. The adventurous people can take part in three distances – 10 km, 30 km and marathon – the organizers said.
In the men’s marathon race, Daniel Soos (Bp Honved SE) won with 2:25:18, followed by Peter Jenkei (Vasas, 2:25:53). Adam Izer (ELTE ADSK, 2:27:09) became the third. Among the women, Timea Krisztina Merenyi (Bp Honved SE) won with 2:45:08, followed by Simona Staicu (Dunakeszi VSE, 2:47:33) and Zsuzsa Szabina Laluska (ELTE ADSK, 2:50:56). The classical distance was also a national championship as well.
