Wizz Air, among others, suspend flights to popular Middle Eastern destination

A ballistic missile launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen struck near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday morning, prompting numerous international airlines, including Hungarian airline Wizz Air, to suspend flights to Tel Aviv amid security concerns.
According to FesNews, the missile, which was not intercepted by Israel’s air defence systems, landed around 9:30 AM local time in an orchard close to Terminal 3 of the Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv. Air raid sirens had sounded in central Israel shortly before impact. According to Israeli media, the explosion left a crater several dozen meters deep, with shrapnel scattering across nearby roads—some of which were temporarily closed.
The Israeli authorities confirmed that six people sustained minor injuries in the blast, and although property damage has not yet been fully assessed, the attack temporarily disrupted operations at the airport. Flight activity was suspended for about an hour before gradually resuming.
