Romanian doctor who killed his Hungarian lover to get life sentence?
A Romanian pulmonologist shot and killed the Hungarian man, László’s wife, Valéria four years ago. The doctor also shot László in the head, who survived, but the left side of his body got paralysed.
The Romanian doctor who killed Valéria and shot László was caught by the police in Romania. He was sentenced to prison for three years and four months for illegally carrying a weapon. He admitted the Romanian authorities that he bought the 9 mm Smith & Wesson revolver at Nyíregyháza, Hungary in order to kill the couple. The doctor also told the police that he had an affair with the married woman, but after she broke up with him, he wanted to take revenge.
László now told Blikk about the accident: “I remember the muzzle flash of the gun and how my wife collapsed. Then the man pointed the gun at me and pulled the trigger. When I fell on the ground and touched the right side of my head, half of a palm-size was missing from it. I realised only then that he shot me. My two children also witnessed the scene. My daughter was trying to gently calm me down while my son ran to get help. A couple of months later, my doctor showed me the scan of my damaged skull. I could see the bone and metal fragments stuck into my brain that no surgery could ever get out of there.”
The Prosecutor asked for a custodial life sentence for the murderer of László’s wife, but the man said, no punishment in this world can ease this pain. “I remember every day of what this man did to us, and I will never forgive him. Ever since the accident, I realised there is nothing worse than being vulnerable in the small things of life. My left side is now paralysed, my hand does not obey me, and I can only walk limping.”
“I cannot play football with my children, crack an egg, or nail the wall anymore, and I need my son’s help even to dress up. I used to be a successful building contractor, and now my monthly income, including the survivor’s pension is 123 000 HUF (346 EUR).” – explained the man.
László is now together with another woman who was a friend of his wife. Luckily, the children also accepted this new situation. The woman supports László and loves the man’s twins, just like they were her own. But another problem is that the family is now struggling financially, as they lived up all their savings.

As we have reported earlier, now the coronavirus pandemic also affects crime rates, not just in Hungary, but in the whole world.
