International students rejoice: Rossmann now offers discounts through Diverzum in Hungary!

International students arriving in Hungary often face a familiar financial challenge: the gap between scholarship amounts and the actual cost of living in cities such as Budapest. Grocery shopping, personal care products, public transport, and the occasional trip or coffee meet-up gradually add up, prompting many students to search for ways to manage their budgets more effectively.
A Hungarian-founded platform, Diverzum, has increasingly become part of these daily routines by aggregating a variety of student discounts. Its latest addition is Rossmann, one of Europe’s well-known drugstore chains.
Expanding a network of practical discounts
While student discounts traditionally focus on cultural institutions or public transport, everyday spending tends to have a more significant effect on monthly budgets. Items like toiletries, cleaning products, and basic household goods account for recurring expenses that students cannot avoid. Rossmann’s appearance on Diverzum reflects this reality, extending the platform’s coverage to another category of essential purchases.
Rossmann is a familiar and accessible chain for many European students, making it a practical inclusion in a system that already covers food, transportation, and leisure-related spending. With the new coupons, the platform aims to ease some of the financial pressure associated with routine purchases.
Brands already used by students in their daily lives
Although Rossmann is the most recent announcement, Diverzum’s presence among international students in Hungary has been shaped by its earlier partnerships with brands commonly used in day-to-day life.
- SPAR – One of the most frequently visited supermarket chains among students. The Diverzum app currently includes a 20% discount on up to 3 products per purchase, on weekdays shopping.
- Starbucks – A common meeting spot and study location for many students, particularly during exam season. A 12% discount on locally prepared food and beverages is available, with occasional temporary promotions.
- Uber – Since its return to Budapest, Uber has again become a familiar transportation option for students. Diverzum includes 80% discounts on 5 rides for new users and 30% discount on 1 ride/month for existing users of Uber.
- FlixBus – Popular among students planning weekend or short-haul trips. A 10% discount can be used for international routes to destinations across Central Europe.
- Technology and clothing brands – Offers for electronics and sportswear, including Samsung, Apple, and Nike, are also part of the platform’s current selection.
Taken together, these partnerships form a network that reflects the everyday habits of international students rather than occasional or niche activities.
Student use and growing awareness
According to Diverzum, more than 240,000 students in Hungary currently use the platform. Much of its visibility comes not from traditional advertising but from recommendations shared within student groups, among friends, university associations, and orientation programs. Rossmann’s involvement indicates an ongoing expansion and suggests that similar partnerships may appear as student consumption patterns evolve.
The development shows a clear trend: digital platforms increasingly influence how foreign students navigate the cost of living in their host countries. Diverzum’s role in this environment is growing as it incorporates additional everyday-use brands into its system of discounts.
