Ryanair moves to digital-only boarding passes soon: here’s what to know

From 12 November, Ryanair passengers will no longer be able to board flights with a printed boarding pass. The airline announced that from this date onwards, only digital boarding passes generated in the “myRyanair” mobile app will be accepted.
A transition postponed several times
According to Turizmus.com, the Irish low-cost carrier originally planned to phase out paper boarding passes in May, later postponing the move to early November. The change was first scheduled for 3 November, but the company delayed it by nine days to ensure a smoother transition after the autumn school break. The new system will officially come into force on Wednesday, 12 November.
How will it work?
Passengers will need to use the Ryanair app, available for both iOS and Android, to generate their digital boarding pass during online check-in. The pass can be displayed on any mobile device and even shared with travel companions through messaging apps. Printed boarding passes will no longer be accepted.
The app will also provide access to flight details and allow passengers to manage seat reservations directly on their devices.
Why the change?
According to the airline, going fully digital offers a faster, smarter, and more eco-friendly travel experience. Dara Brady, Ryanair’s marketing director, underlined that the new system not only benefits passengers but also supports the company’s sustainability goals.

With more than 206 million passengers annually, around 80% are already using digital boarding passes, meaning that for the majority of Ryanair customers, the switch will not be a major change.
What does this mean for travellers?
From 12 November onwards, all Ryanair passengers will need a smartphone or another digital device to board their flight. To avoid last-minute issues, travellers are advised to download and test the “myRyanair” app in advance of their journey.
The paper era is coming to an end: Ryanair flyers will now need to step fully into the digital age.

Agenda 2030, yo!
And, naturally, you MUST use their app. They don’t allow you to show a PDF version or display the boarding pass through a third-party app such as PassAndroid.
They can all go to hell.
