Ryanair London-Budapest flight turns back for technical reasons – UPDATE
Budapest, January 8 (MTI) – A flight of Irish low-fare airline Ryanair bound for Budapest returned to London on Friday, a passenger told MTI.
The passenger, Zoltan Keszy-Harmath, who is also a pilot, said the Boeing 737 took off from London Stansted at 11:45 in the morning, but turned around after reaching the French coast.
Mihaly Hardy, the spokesman for Budapest Airport, which operates Liszt Ferenc International, said the aircraft turned back for technical reasons, citing an announcement by Ryanair.
The flight, number 8445, was scheduled to land in Budapest at 3:10 in the afternoon.
Keszy-Harmath said passengers were waiting for another aircraft.
Flight data on the website of Budapest Airport showed the flight landed at Liszt Ferenc at 5:41 in the evening.
Responding to a query by MTI, Ryanair said the aircraft had turned back because a warning light signalling a possible minor technical problem had gone on in the cockpit. The passengers were transferred to another aircraft to avoid any further delay, it added.
