Seven Hungarians invited to join US film academy – Here’s the full list of invitees

Change language:
The American film academy, best known for giving the prestigious Academy Award for cinematic achievement, invited a record 774 people to join its ranks this year. Seven Hungarians are among those invited, the website Variety and oscars.org said on Thursday.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will count directors Márta Mészáros, Ildikó Enyedi, Géza M. Tóth and Kristóf Deák, animated film director Ferenc Rófusz, producer Anna Udvardy and writer Éva Pataki among its members.
The academy, having faced backlash for awarding and admitting white men to a disproportionate extent in the past, has invited to-be members from 57 countries this year. Thirty percent of the invitees are non-whites and 39 percent women.
774 invitees is a record number, up from last year’s 683.
