Smart meter plant inaugurated in Hungary

Metrinox inaugurated a manufacturing plant in Szerencs (NE Hungary) which will produce smart gas and electricity metres in the future, government commissioner László György told public media in Szerencs on Thursday.

Metrinox CEO Zoltán Jászberényi said headcount at the plant stands at 10 and they want to raise it to 50 by the end of the year.

In the first phase they will perform the verification and repair of residential gas meters, in the second phase they plan to launch smart gas metering service together with an international partner.

László György noted that 748 companies in the Szerencs-Tiszaújváros area had received HUF 38bn of development funding since 2020.
