Soldiers’ wages to grow by 5 pc from January
Budapest (MTI) – Wages in Hungary’s armed forces will grow by an additional 5 percent from January next year and fringe benefits will also increase, the defence minister said before signing a cooperation agreement with interest associations on Monday.
Since July, wages have increased by an average 30 percent and starting from 2016, they will grow further by 5 percent annually, Istvan Simicsko said. As a result, employees of Hungary’s armed forces will get an average 50 percent more in 2019 than they did in 2015, he added.
The agreement covers salaries and employee benefits, such as Erzsebet vouchers and clothing allowances.

The BRAVE deserve it, i include the POLICE though who put out much before the soldiers were called in. Stop the recalling of Overtime B.S. and leave the POLICE alone and happy this Christmas season, they deserve all the costs of unsettling!!
Great news, but let’s not forget the people who work in healthcare, before we loose all of them to foreign countries!
@Geza
Your absolutely correct, my bad. These people that decide to work in Health care profession, my two kids included, deserve special attention too. We may loose a very valuable resource if our governments, “not just in Hungary”, turn a blind eye to the medical brain drain happening. This is a serious part of public infrastructure that takes years, to develop and aquire. Our military and police are no exception, without these and many other important public servants, fire fighters, paramedics, the list goes on. This story talked just about the pay BS some backbencher wanted to weasle back from the boys that went out to do a job, not just for the city, but the country. That’s why i got pissed off. Any how, hope the FIDESZ has some reasonable solution coming up for all our other special public servants.
