Sports centre to be built at Déli railway station
Plans are under way to build a sports and recreation centre with several facilities next to Budapest’s Déli railway station, daily Magyar Hírlap said on Thursday, citing a public procurement announcement for the project.
Bids have been invited for the construction of a public centre comprising an ice hockey rink, tennis, squash and streetball courts, a golf training field, a ski training track, a climbing wall for children as well as an extreme sports track, the paper said.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 14.
The facility is planned to occupy the railway station’s technical area adjoining the area of the Hungarian Sports University.
The construction project will not affect public rail services, according to the paper.
As we wrote, rail infrastructure plays an essential role in implementing Hungary’s foreign trade strategy, the foreign minister said at a rail conference on 3rd October.
Also we wrote, the winner project for the construction of the Budapest Athletics Stadium has been chosen. According to pestbuda.hu, the Stadium, in its extended form, will be able to host 55,000 people.
