Star tennis player living in Budapest left his family and went to Ukraine to help
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, several people and celebrities from all around the world have expressed their concerns for the people of Ukraine and the inhumane nature of a war.
Many celebrities donate to charity to help support the refugees fleeing from the war-struck Ukraine, but there is only a few who take things into their own hands and would go to a warzone to help people themselves.
This is exactly what a Ukrainian star tennis-player, who have been living in Budapest did.
According to Szeretlekmagyarország, Sergiy Eduardovych Stakhovsky, Ukrainian star tennis player, despite earning millions through his career and living in luxury in Budapest, he has decided to leave his family behind in Hungary’s capital and join the Ukrainian military on his own will.
Sergiy, a father of three and a husband to Anfisa Bulgakova, have retired this January and he was the 31st best tennis player in the entire world.
His wife gave an interview to the Hungarian RTL Klub television channel where she was talking about their feelings when war broke out between Ukraine and Russia last week.
Anfisa recalled that Sergiy and her have both been deeply touched when they heard the news about the conflict.
She said that some of his relatives were still in Ukraine when the war broke out while she also highlighted about Sergiy’s career that he has always been a patriot.
In the interview she said that Sergiy went back to Ukraine as an organiser to help people in need and to support the Ukrainians. Anfisa said that her husband is currently in Kyiv, making interviews and reporting on the true events to show to the world, but she knows that if necessary, Sergiy could even take up arms to help defend his own people.
Anfisa, the wife of the former star tennis player has asked people to realise that there is a difference between the leadership of Russia and Russian people.
She would like people to stop hating on Russian people as these decisions were made above their head. The majority of Russians oppose this conflict, but many cannot stand up against their government because of fear.
Sergiy’s wife also said that she did not tell their children the exact situation and that she is being informed by her husband every day through his phone, but the situation is uncertain.
