State secretary Novák receives highest French state award
France’s highest state award, the Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour, was presented to Katalin Novák, state secretary for family and youth affairs, at a ceremony in Budapest on Monday evening.
The award was presented by Benoit Puga, Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honour, to Novák in recognition of her achievements in promoting French-Hungarian relations.
Addressing the ceremony at the French ambassador’s residence, Ambassador Pascale Andreani said that Puga’s visit to Budapest was an appreciation of Novák’s work and French-Hungarian relations.
Novak is currently the president of parliament’s French-Hungarian Friendship chapter. She served before as the foreign ministry’s ministerial commissioner for Francophone affairs.
The ceremony was attended by the house speaker, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, the justice minister, the wife of the prime minister and several ambassadors.
The French Legion of Honor was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802.
