Surprising turn: 9-year-old kid shot the popular Swiss wolf in Hungary
His father working as a professional hunter gave him the murder weapon. Here is the unbelievable story.
According to Blikk, the boy went to the forest with a friend of his and shot down the carnivore. As we wrote yesterday, police arrested two men over the illegal shooting of a wolf that wandered from Switzerland to Hungary. The wolf, dubbed M237, had been tracked across Europe through a GPS collar it was fitted with. In early April, the signal was suddenly lost. Later, it became clear that the animal was shot.
The sad event happened near Hidasnémeti. After the shooting, the GPS collar was cut off and thrown into the River Hernád. During the police’s investigation, divers found the device deep in the stream. Police narrowed down the possible perpetrators and caught two men yesterday.
Unbelievable: kid shot the carnivore
One of them was the father of the 9-year-old boy who shot the wolf. The child received a weapon from his father and accompanied the parent’s friend to the forest that day. After the boy shot the animal, they put its corpse into a car and cut the EUR 4,000 GPS collar.
György N., the boy’s father, is charged with damaging nature, endangering a minor, firearm abuse, and vandalism causing damage. The wolf’s theoretical value is HUF 250 thousand (EUR 638). A hunter friend of György said he was devastated that people called him wolf-murderer in social media, and he even received death threats. Therefore, he did not continue to hunt after the scandal broke out.
Blikk wanted to visit him at home. They said his house in NyÃregyháza resembles a fortress, vacant parcels surround it. Thus, journalists could not even get a glimpse of the garden or the house, just the walls. Blikk wrote that the man bought up the nearby forest and regularly hunted there but became public enemy nr 1 in the community due to the scandal.
We wrote HERE about the sentence the hunter might get. However, we did not know then that the perpetrator will be underage. In THIS article, we summed up the incredible journey the animal did before arriving near Hidasnémeti.
