You do not have to give up swimming just because the sun does not shine that much these days. Budapest’s thermal and swimming baths all have indoor or covered swimming pools. Here is a list of all the places where you can enjoy this sport in winter.
Termalfurdo collected all the swimming pools in Budapest that are open to sports fans during the coldest months of the year.
Aquaworld Resort Budapest
Aquaworld Resort Budapest has an indoor 25-metre-long infinity pool with a depth of 170 cm. The pool is kept at 27-29 degrees Celsius. The resort awaits swimmers all year round. Besides swimming, visitors can also buy a ticket and use the water park and the spa and wellness facilities.

Paskál Bath
Paskál bath was renovated in 2016. The new facility operates with seven new pools, and it is open all year round. The 2,345-square-metre bath used to have only two pools. In the new indoor facility, several new pools were built, as well as a geothermal sauna, which is the first of its kind in Hungary. The 33-metre-long covered swimming pool awaits the sport’s fanatics. The bath employs a heat pump system which uses the drained thermal water for heating. A new car park was built next to the bath which can now provide parking space for 190 cars.
Palatinus Baths
Palatinus Bath was the 5th on TripAdvisor’s list of the top 25 water parks in Europe. The water park has a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor and is located on the beautiful Margaret Island. Few people know that Palatinus is open all year round. It offers its visitors both indoor and outdoor pools. The thermal spa and the 40-metre-long swimming pool can be used during winter. The park was upgraded and renewed two years ago. You can even take a virtual tour of the whole water park on its website, which will surely convince you to visit.
Historic Baths
The historic thermal baths of Budapest are great for relaxing, and they are one of, if not the most, popular tourist destinations in the Hungarian capital. It is worth mentioning that almost all historic baths have swimming pools for athletic visitors. Even though the tickets do tend to be more expensive than in a regular swimming pool, these are also worth trying out.
