Foreign minister Szijjártó slams Brussels as ‘incompetent’ for failing to match US tariffs

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said decision makers in Brussels were “incompetent” and “spineless” for failing to address President Donald Trump’s “fair and reciprocal” trade measures in a post on social media on Thursday.
Szijjártó said the European Union should have reduced its tariff on cars made in the United States from 10pc to 2.5pc, level with the US tariff on cars manufactured in Europe. “It would have been simple, but they didn’t do it,” he added.
After isolating Europe from the Chinese economy, the von der Leyen Commission has isolated it from the American economy, too, Szijjártó said, noting the negative economic impact of punitive tariffs on Chinese EVs. Szijjártó said Hungary was continuing bilateral talks with the US administration to achieve a Hungarian-US economic cooperation of an unprecedented scale in the coming months. “What Brussels has ruined, we need to correct in Budapest,” he added.

It wouldn’t make any difference either way as nobody in Europe wants to buy the garbage that rolls of Amercan production lines. Their cars are designed and manufactured for a different market, driven on different types of roads and made to different dimensions. They’re heavily made down to a price and are generally technologically backward compared to the average European car due in no small part to their low sticker price in the US. US makers have tried and tried over the decades to break into the European market but consumers simply don’t want their home-grown products. Ford and GM ran European divisions making cars tailored to local tastes and were generally successful but GM ran into trouble and sold its Opel brand to the French while Ford has neglected the European market in the last 20 years and has precious little to offer the typical buyer. Visit a local Ford dealer and check how slim their range of models has become.
The Mustang is the exception to the general failure of US models in Europe. Ford stepped up to the plate and made a really excellent car in 2014 with the aim of going global with the model and despite the prodigious thirst, it has achieved good sales figures as it’s an object of desire and symbol of the American Dream but the market for these relatively expensive and powerful cars is limited by the size of European consumer’s wallets.
What a LOSE – of limited intellectual ability CANON, just adds onto, time and time again the PILE of absolute reasons, why as a Minister of the Orban led Fidesz Government, we continue on DESTROYING our reputation, the image already SMASHED by the Orban – Fidesz Government, inside Europe, the European Union inclusive of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Global Countrys that are Governed under DEMOCRACY.
Peter Szijjarto, do you know where to find his picture or reference to him in Brussels and countrys of DEMOCRACY ?
For hygienic reasons, please wash your hands after your visit.
Sign on the door, reminiscent of the famous Belgium sculpture of the “little” boy urinating but the real problem is, I don’t think those places are for “Gofers” to use.
