TASZ goes to court to force hospitals release info on infections

Budapest (MTI) – The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (TASZ) will challenge the National Public Health and Medical Officer Service (ÁNTSZ) in court after ÁNTSZ refused a data request concerning hospital infections.

The ÁNTSZ initially said such information was publicly available, then asked for an extension of the deadline for releasing it before eventually refused to supply the information, claiming that it was “data for preparing decisions”.

TASZ has argued that this information cannot be classified as “data for preparing decisions” and the ÁNTSZ is obliged by law to publish “the results of its database on hospital infections around the country”. The ÁNTSZ certainly has the data and it is clearly of public interest, TASZ said.
