Ten Years after Incident, Paks Fuel Rods Transported to Russia
(MTI) – Fuel rods damaged in an incident more than ten years ago at Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant in Paks have been transported to Russia, the chief executive of the company that runs the plant said on Thursday.
Istvan Hamvas said the fuel rods had been transported to the Mayak nuclear facility in Siberia by rail.
The rods were damaged in April 2003, when they overheated in a cleaning tank next to one of the plant’s reactors.
