Budapest cogwheel is back!
The cogwheel is one of Budapest’s oldest means of transport. Thanks to it, you can easily get up Széchenyi Hill. The top of the hill offers a great view and is a great place for hiking trails, writes hellomagyar.hu.
The lower terminus is in Városmajor, while the upper terminus is on Széchenyi Hill, near the former Panorama Hotel. The upper terminus is also located only 200 metres from the station of the same name of the Gyermekvasút.
The cogwheel also passes through the neighbourhoods of Diósarok and Sváb Hill.
The panorama widens as you go up, while descending the valley, you can discover the mountains and the whole city. The cogwheel is not only useful for hikers and adventure seekers but also for locals.
New service
Due to road maintenance, the cogwheel was closed from 16 March. No need to wait any longer, however, as the popular transport service will be back on Saturday, 30 April, at dawn. At the same time, Budapest Transport Centre is launching a new service.
