The first hybrid bus is already in service
BKK’s first Electric Hybrid bus has entered scheduled service. The brand new Volvo 7900A has appeared first on bus line 7 and it will followed by 27 more during February and March 2015.
The hybrid buses will serve bus line 5, 7, 9 and 107, and with the total of 28 hybrid buses BKK Centre for Budapest Transport will operate one of the biggest hybrid bus fleets in Europe.
The Volvo 7900A is an articulated, completely barrier-free, air conditioned bus. With the hybrid technology it uses only electricity when it slows down or accelerates from the stops, making it extremely low in noise and zero emission. The hybrid buses can save 25-35 percent of fuel during their operation.
