Euro2016 – Hungarian referee will be the main referee of the opening match
Szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu writes that the very first match of the 2016 Football European Championship will be played by the French and Romanian teams, and led by Viktor Kassai, Hungarian referee in the Saint-Denis Stade de France, on Friday.
June 10 is the day of the opening match of the 2016 Football European Champs. The hosting team of France will have to face the players of Romania, and, as it was announced by the UEFA, the Hungarian Viktor Kassai is going to be the main referee of the match.
Just to name a few of the possible milestones of his career, szeretlekmagyarorszag writes that Kassai led the final football match of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, was in charge at qualifiers of the Southern African World Champs in 2010, and also at the finale of the Champions’ League in 2011.
Moreover, the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) chose Kassai as the best referee of the world in 2011. Unfortunately though, at the 2012 European Champs organized by Poland and Ukraine together, he disallowed the co-host’s valid goal at the England-Ukraine match, hence he was not given the opportunity to lead further matches at the Champs.
Assistant referees of Kassai are going to be the Dutch Björn Kuipers and four other Hungarians: György Ring, Vencel Tóth, Tamás Bognár and Ádám Farkas. Also, further announcements by the UEFA, regarding the referees of Saturday, are still to come.
