The most popular Hungarian medical university changes admissions
Thousands of foreigners continue their studies at Hungary’s most popular medical university, Budapest’s Semmelweis University. The institution announced yesterday that it would radically change its admissions system from the 2024 academic year. Below you may read the details.
From 2024, there will be an oral exam as part of the admissions process at Semmelweis University, the institution said. Such a change is allowed by a government decree issued in early September. That decree allows each university to determine how applicants can acquire 100 points out of the total 500.
Following that rule, the medical university is to give 50 plus points for an oral entrance exam and an additional 50 for language knowledge, successful competitions, work experience, already obtained professional qualifications and sports successes.
The university also changes the calculations regarding the different Hungarian school-leaving exam levels. However, the relevant chart is only available in Hungarian HERE.
