This can be expected at Hungarian universities from September
New set of rules has been carried out by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) to assist higher education institutions in preparing for the start of the school year.
The new procedure has been developed based on the recommendations of the Operational Staff.Â
According to the guidelines, all higher education institutions must have an action plan for managing epidemiological preparedness, which is continuously updated and also agreed on with the maintainer.Â
As the Hungarian news portal eduline reports, the most critical points are:
- Only healthy students who do not show symptoms of coronavirus disease can visit the buildings, events and lessons of the higher education institution.
- Every worker and student must comply with health regulations, including frequent, soapy hand washing and hand disinfection.
- Attendance classes should be organised in a way that a safety distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained. If this is not possible, it is mandatory to wear a mask.
- Before moving into dormitories, a questionnaire should be filled in, and body temperature should be measured. This should be done with daily frequency, and students showing symptoms should be segregated immediately.
- Rooms should be assigned in a way that students studying in the same groups, and attending the same classrooms, live in the same dormitory room.
- The procedure also recommends the provision of online enrollment, and also includes recommendations for holding school opening ceremony and other events.
- In the case of university freshman camps, increased compliance with epidemiological rules is required, and the number of participants should not exceed 500. It is suggested that the camps should be organised in several shifts.Â
- Based on the current country classifications, a separate recommendation was made for the admission procedure for international students. According to this, the higher education institution issues a certificate for entry from abroad to non-Hungarian students, who must contact the particular higher education institution within 24 hours after entering the country and must show up at the accommodation specified in the certificate.

Regular testing rather than an unreliable temp check? No of course not. That would be too sensible.
