According to penzcentrum.hu, the eco house located in Szentendre is the example of modern preservation of traditions. This year, it won the House of the Year award.
House of the Year 2015 awards were handed over. This year, the jury had to choose between 27 buildings. Peter Borbas was awarded with the top prize and the HUF 500 thousand. The eco house in Szentendre – besides it meets the active and passive solar energy utilization principles – also follows the pattern of the traditional long houses.
“The building organically fits into the little street of Szentendre. It preserves the modesty of the old house, the additions and alterations meet today’s needs. With its natural materials, it is the exemplary follower of the small-town tradition. It follows the proven teachings: you do not have to rebuild the old house, but get used to it” – Sandor Devenyi DLA, president of the jury praised the winner.
The Special Prize of the Hungarian Chamber of Architects (MEK) was awarded to Zsolt Gyorgy Kovacs, Jana Berankova and David Kovacs for the design of their Veszprem house.
Laszlo Foldes and Peter Sonicz received the Association of Hungarian Architects (MESZ) Special Prize for the design of the Long House in Pilisborosjeno.
